After nine years in their parents’ business, the twins launched a pet food company of their own.
Against the Grain focuses on grain-free, meat-based foods and claims to make food that’s “second to none, and completely unique, revolutionary, evolutionary, nutritious, and wholesome”.

What Do Customers Think of Against the Grain Cat Food?
Most customers like Against the Grain cat food. Most positive reviews discuss the food’s quality, while negative reviews typically address palatability issues. Let’s see what a few customers have to say about it.
Positive Reviews
“Purchased this for my very food selective male cat because his “favorite” was out of stock. Well it seems that not only does he like it but so does his two siblings. Will be reordering. Will also order another flavor in this brand for them to try. Thanks Chewy for a wonderful service.” – by Denise reviewing Against the Grain Chicken & Pumpkin Samba Dinner on 27 Jul 2021
“Well, it’s shredded. I didn’t realize that when I ordered it. My cats are accustomed to pate, so it wasn’t a favorite but they are it” – Carrie, reviewing Against the Grain Carribean Club with Chicken & Cheese Dinner on 24 Oct 2021
Negative Reviews
“I was praying my gang would love this food. It looks healthy and wasn’t inexpensive. However, “the committee” ate it one time and never again…so now it’s saved for the stray dog that visits. He loves me for it.” – Thekittycommittee, reviewing Against the Grain Chicken & Pumpkin Samba Dinner on 6 May 2022
“Love the ingredients list, however my cat will hardly touch it. One of the few foods where my cat chooses to yowl for hours (complaining to the chef to change the meal) rather than eat it. Bummer because it seems like a good product. Seems like it’s lightly flavored – and my cat enjoys more strongly flavored products.” – Kayla, reviewing Against the Grain Carribean Club with Chicken & Cheese Dinner on 10 Aug 2021
How Much Does Against the Grain Cat Food Cost?
Against the Grain cat food is a little more expensive than the average cat food. According to the company’s feeding guidelines of three cans or tubs per day for a 10-lb cat, it would cost from $3.10 to over $5 per day. This puts it among some of the most expensive brands on the market, including Weruva, Tiki Cat, and Nom Nom.
Overall, Is Against the Grain a Good Choice?
Although Against the Grain doesn’t claim to use human-grade ingredients and tends to include more plant ingredients than Weruva or Tiki Cat, the three brands are similar.
Like Weruva and Tiki Cat, Against the Grain foods are rich in meat and loaded with protein, making them a species-appropriate pick for your carnivore. Though their recipes nail carnivore-appropriate protein content, they tend to be a bit lean. You might want to rotate Against the Grain with another fattier food.

No taurine added as far as I can tell which is not good
Hello. The last food, the one with mango. What is the carb content on dry matter b? I think you mention it’s moderate carb but I don’t see carbs on the pie chart. I also have this food available relatively easy & at a great price but I just want to make sure it is low carb especially now I know that tractor supply has issued a new formula on their 4health chicken in broth canned food & it’s no longer as low in carbs as it once was & also has by products now. My cat really liked it & Im trying to also break his fish addiction. Thank you for the very important work! 🙂
