About Edgard & Cooper
The Edgard & Cooper pet food company was founded in 2014 by Koen Bostoen, Louis Chalabi, and Jürgen Degrande. The brand’s story began when Bostoen and Chalabi met at university in 2004. Over the years, the two friends created and developed the concept of a healthy pet food company named after their own dogs, Edgard & Cooper.
The brand had some difficulty at first finding suppliers to produce their recipes using fresh meat, but their persistence eventually paid off. By working with a university, they were able to find a combination of ingredients and partners to help them turn their dream into reality.
After formulating their original dog food recipe with the help of university experts, Edgard & Cooper founders Bostoen and Chalabi began building their brand with a focus on sustainability. In 2016, Jürgen Degrande joined the team and the trio soon ordered 300,000 meals to launch their brand.
Edgard & Cooper is a fast-growing company now sold in 13 different countries. In 2019, the brand began making cat food and they continue to work toward their sustainability goal of eliminating all emissions from their direct operations. The brand also pledges 1% of sales to help improve the lives of cats and dogs around the world through the work of the Edgard & Cooper Foundation.
All of Edgard & Cooper’s packaging is designed with sustainability in mind. All their cardboard boxes and filling paper is made from FSC certified paper and reinforced with paper tape rather than plastic. The food packaging is largely made from paper and bioplastic derived from renewable resources. Edgard & Cooper’s packaging is recyclable with paper and industrially compostable.
Sourcing and Manufacturing
Edgard & Cooper pet foods has headquarters in Kortrijk, Belgium, the Flemish region of the country. The company has warehouses in Belgium but we couldn’t find a definite site for where the food is manufactured or if Edgard & Cooper makes the food themselves.
We did find information that ingredients are sourced locally, as much as possible, including meats and fish. Europe has co-packing companies just as there are in the U.S.
These companies make private label foods for some pet food companies but we don’t know if Edgard & Cooper is one of them. A search for job listings for the company found many openings for sales accountants and a few openings for warehouse jobs but none for working in a pet food plant.
Has Edgard & Cooper Cat Food Been Recalled?
We didn’t find any recalls for Edgard & Cooper pet foods online. However, the company’s foods are sold in over a dozen European countries where multiple languages are spoken. Google may only find English-language articles on the subject.
Considering the fact that Edgard & Cooper continues to receive multi-million dollar investments, it seems unlikely that their food has been recalled.
What Kinds Of Cat Food Does Edgard & Cooper Offer?
Though originally launched as a fresh dog food company, Edgard & Cooper has expanded rapidly and now offers a variety of wet and dry cat food products.
The current Edgard & Cooper dry cat food lineup includes five recipes made with fresh meat instead of meat meal. The brand suggests that fresh meat is less processed, easier to digest, and retains more of its natural nutrition than meat meals. Four of the recipes are formulated for adult cats – including one for senior cats – and the fifth is designed for kittens.
The majority of Edgard & Cooper’s cat food products are wet foods, sold in cans or tubs depending on the texture. All seven canned cat foods are chunky style with gravy while the tubs are pate style. Edgard & Cooper offers wet foods for kittens, adult cats, and senior cats as well as three organic wet cat foods.
Every one of Edgard & Cooper’s wet food recipes begins with a fresh source of animal protein as the first ingredient. All fish ingredients are certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council and all foods meet EU guidelines for safe pet food manufacturing.

Positive Reviews
Love the packaging, totally personalized and safe to ship. I love the food for my kitten and the price point is fair to the quality. The site is so well made and I love the little extras that they portray on the website. 10/10 experience, I am almost never this excited about a company/order. – by Julie Vanden Driesch on October 30, 2022
I’ve shopped around for some time to find a pet food that aligned with my wishes for sustainability and service while also being good fits for both my cat and my dog. E&C are that.
The cat is a bit fussy but is very happy with the fish forward senior food. My dog tends toward the skinny side but is enthusiastic about his new dry food and seems to keep weight on well. Orders are processed quickly and shipping works well. – by Anne Dahlgaard on September 16, 2022
Negative Reviews
Unfortunately my cat doesn’t seem to like healthy food although he was ok with the biscuits and I plan to order more of them. – by Sara Vian on May 2, 2021

Hi Sara 👋
Thank you very much for your 3 stars and you feedback! We’re glad your feline friend loved our kibble 🤩
Unfortunately, cats are indeed quite fussy in general and our (wet) food is something completely different than what your kitty is used to 😅
We don’t use meat meal or grains, we add healthy herbs and berries and everything is free of chemicals! Being creatures of habit, most cats need to take their time to appreciate this.
If you would like some tips on how to make the transition more successful, feel free to contact us on our chat or via [email protected] 🤗
Have a nice day

I ordered four individual flavours as a trial. Sadly they arrived really squashed, making it quite awkward to dispense the contents. My cat did not like the consistency of the food, so shall not reorder. – by Valerie Day on May 2, 2021

Hi there Valerie 😸👋
First of all, thank you for wanting to try our food for your special feline friend! We’re happy with the trust you have in our brand 🤩
Second, I’d like to apologise for the damaged goods upon delivery. If this happens, you can always contact [email protected] with the issue and some pictures and we’ll do everything in our power to find a satisfying solution for you 🤗
Regarding the taste and your cat’s liking of the product, did you introduce the food slowly? We always recommend a slow transition since cats are rather fussy eaters and our food is something completely different since we don’t use any meat meal, grains or chemicals! 🌱
So it might take your cat a little while longer to learn to appreciate this healthy food.
We’re always available to provide some tips on transitioning. We’ll also be launching some new cat products in the near future that might be more to his liking texture wise so be sure to keep an eye on our website 👀😉
Have a nice day,
Marlies from Edgard & Cooper 🐾

The prices online for the dry cat food range from €4.99 for 0.325kg of food to €39.99 for 4kg of food. Edgard & Cooper wet food is sold in 85g cans and tubs. Overall, Is Edgard & Cooper Cat Food A Good Choice?
Yes, Edgard & Cooper appears to be a quality brand. The ingredients in the food appear to be responsibly sourced and the company prioritizes sustainability. In terms of nutritional quality, the wet foods are going to be a more species appropriate choice than the dry foods largely because they are much higher in protein and lower in carbohydrate.
Though you can find Edgard & Cooper foods both in stores throughout Europe, it’s also easy to buy online. In the past, customers have complained about delivery issues, but the number of positive reviews greatly exceeds the number of negative reviews. Edgard & Cooper seems to have resolved most of their delivery problems and the brand offers excellent customer service.
Not only does Edgard & Cooper offer high-quality cat food but the prices are reasonable. You’ll pay more for this cat food than you might for other European brands like Naturea and Natures Menu, but the price point is similar to more highly rated brands like Anifit and Forza10.
How Do You Order Edgard & Cooper Cat Food?
You can order Edgard & Cooper cat food from the company’s web site.
It is made in the EU, that’s what the package says. I live in Belgium and the dry food is good, more variety would be appreciated. My cat didn’t really like the wet food but probably it’s because she needs time to switch to it.
She’s been recently adopted. The dry food went well from the beginning.
They recently changed to new packaging and a new ingredient list, is the new ingredient the same as before?
Hello there! I can see that the entire lineup has changed, and the article is in need of a complete update! Scheduling that change now. Thank you for letting us know!
