Your Grandorf cat food review was excellent. I have been feeding this brand to my three cats for a month and so far, it's been great for digestive issues - good bowel movements and zero vomiting. One of my cats had urinary crystals, so I had to feed her Royal Canin S/O. My other two cats ate the same as it was challenging for me to feed everyone separately. It was a nightmare! My cat with crystals could barely poop and my other two cats would vomit every week. Now that the crystals issue has been resolved, they are all on Grandorf and I'm very pleased. However, my vet told me today that I should feed my cat, who had a UTI, and crystals special food to prevent her from developing crystals or UTIs again. With that said, I'm not sure Grandorf is the right choice for her. This is what they are all eating and they all love it: https://grandorf.eu/catalog/cat_foods/adult_cats/gd_indoor_probiotic_4_meat_400_n/?offer=13232 I really dislike Royal Canin and Hills products, two of my cats always vomit when I feed them those brands. Is it ok for my cat, who had urinary issues, to eat Grandorf?
Thank you in advance!

I'm not sure what you mean by your vet advised "crystals special food." Vets either recommend prescription diets, or they don't. Your experience with Royal Canon SO is a surprise, since it's usually well tolerated. It does require that penalty of water be available. The other prescription urinary diets are Science Diet c/d and Purina UR. Crystals are very painful and could be life-threatening for your cat, and and I don't think anyone here will tell you to ignore your vet's recommendation, although you have not made clear what that is.

Again, you don't say whether your vet recommended that you still feed a "prescription diet." Crystals come back. It is not likely a temporary condition, but a chronic one that you have to manage. All of the prescription urinary diets are very effective at keeping pets crystal free. There are some non-prescription diets that claim to help with urinary issues, but they do NOT work as well as the prescription diets. So once again, the first question remains whether your vet recommended a prescription diet. If he did, and you're trying to figure out on your own or by people on forums if you can get away with some boutique food or something else, you're playing Russian roulette with your cat's health. I can tell you that every dog and pet owner I know that has had a cat or dog with urinary issues has had to keep their pet on a prescription urinary diet, with excellent results. For those that don't it's a recurring problem.

@mitchellregenbogen I fed my cat Royal Canin Urinary S/O and after a few months of treatment, she no longer has crystals or a UTI. The vet mentioned that there are recommended foods that will help prevent future formations of crystals or UTIs, but I am currently feeding Grandorf to all my cats and I'd like to know if this type of food is ok for a cat that has had UTIs and crystals in the past. My vet doesn't know the Grandorf brand so he did not make any comments on whether I should continue feeding her that or not.
