The Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box is made from 100% post-consumer waste plastic-free, recycled cardboard material. The material keeps the litter fresher and drier longer and minimizes odors. It is also compostable and biodegradable.

This litter box comes with a removable shield and is available in large and jumbo sizes. The large box measures 14 x 18 x 4 inches, and the jumbo box measures 18 x 20.5 x 5.5 inches. This litter box material is water-resistant and should not leak.

The entire setup includes 1 litter box and 5 sifting liner trays.

Cleaning The Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box

Like other sifting litter boxes, Kitty Sift has several slotted trays. When used with clumping litter the, liner trays can be used multiple times by placing them at the bottom of the stack inside the litter box base.

When it comes to cleaning the Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box, it is consistent and easy to handle. This litter box comes with 3 sifting liner trays and 1 litter box base. When cleaning, the sifting trays allow unsoiled litter to pass through the slots, leaving clumps behind. This means no scooping.

After your cat does his business, just dump the used clumps from the liner tray and rotate it 180 degrees, then add it to the bottom level of the liner trays. If the liner tray gets too soiled, it can be disposed of but remember this is biodegradable and compostable material.

Sometimes cleaning may get dusty when shaking the liner tray, depending on your litter choice. However, the Kitty Sift effectively avoids sticking and buildup, staying smooth and clean sift after sift.

Once all of the cat waste is in the top liner tray, it can be disposed of. This may be awkward due to the size of the sifter tray. Next, the used liner tray goes to the bottom of the trays.

The biggest challenge was shaking the large sifting tray and dumping the soiled litter without making too much of a mess. The trays can be a little awkward to dump.

Does It Control Odor Well?

The Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box is designed to control odor with its breathable material. This allows airflow that keeps the litter dryer, as well as fresher longer. But we found the odor control varied depending on the level of soiling in the liner trays.

Again, this depends on how much your cat uses the litter box, the amount of moisture in the tray, and how many cats are using the box. However, the litter you choose will have a larger impact on odor control.

Does It Control Tracking And Scatter?

The Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box isn’t 100% track-proof, but it does have a removable shield top, which helps control scatter.

Our cats tracked litter out of the box, but that is expected with almost any litter box. Placing a mat outside the litter box can help control tracking.

Overall, the Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box is budget-friendly, simply designed, and helps to keep your cat’s litter clean. It also seems to have a texture or smell that cats are really drawn to, so it shouldn’t be difficult to get your cat to use it. Our cats gravitated to it immediately and chose it over the other litter boxes offered.

This litter box is constructed with recycled cardboard which is a great alternative to plastic as well as more sanitary and eco-friendly. It is also low enough, at 4 inches, for almost any cat to use easily.

However, it’s not perfect. The biggest complaint with the Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box is the durability of the trays. When you add large amounts of litter and moisture, the liner trays can turn into a floppy cardboard mess. This may only be an issue with multiple cat homes or cats that “go” a lot.

For the most part, the Kitty Sift Disposable Sifting Litter Box performs well as other sifting litter boxes with sustainable materials. If you’re looking for a plastic-free alternative to scooping, this litter box may be right for you.
