About Scrumptious From Scratch
Scrumptious from Scratch was introduced in late 2019. The food is made by a company called Sustainable Pet Products – the same company that makes Bionic Dog Toys made from non-toxic rubber.
Scrumptious from Scratch cat foods are wet foods. They are grain-free, gluten-free, and made using human-grade meats. They are carrageenan-free. They feature shredded/flaked meats like chicken, turkey, and tuna in gravy in multiple versions. There is also a pumpkin formula. Meat is the first ingredient in the formulas and they have zero mechanically deboned meat or MDM. The foods contain no animal by-products and they contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. The packaging is BPA-NI compliant. The foods meet AAFCO guidelines.
Sourcing and Manufacturing
Scrumptious from Scratch has headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The foods are manufactured in a USDA-certified facility in Thailand.
We don’t have a lot of information about where ingredients are sourced but the pumpkin used by Scrumptious from Scratch is sourced in Thailand. The tuna is sustainably wild caught in both the Pacific and Indian oceans.

Negative Reviews
“My cats seemed to like this food the first time I purchased it, but not this time.” – KimS

How Much Does Scrumptious From Scratch Cat Food Cost?
It appears that the tuna recipes cost slightly less than the chicken recipes, at least where we looked. We found cases of the chicken recipes for $17.88 on Chewy.com (slightly less on autoship). Cases of the tuna recipes were $11.88. These are all cases of 12 cans/2.8 ounces each.
The cost breaks down to $1.49 per 2.8 ounce can for the chicken varieties; and $0.99 per can for the tuna varieties. (Prices subject to change.)
Scrumptious from Scratch only has about 26-27 calories per ounce, which is a little less than some other popular cat foods, so you might have to feed your cat a little extra. You should figure this into your budget.
Overall, Is Scrumptious From Scratch A Good Choice?
Yes, we think that Scrumptious from Scratch is a good cat food. It appears to contain good quality meat without artificial flavors, preservatives, or colors. It is grain-free and gluten-free. Meat is the first ingredient and it does not contain animal by-products. And, it does not use carrageenan.
If mechanically deboned meat is an issue for you, Scrumptious from Scratch does not use meat from this process.
The brand offers tuna and chicken in several varieties, as well as pumpkin and a few seafood options. The number of recipes may grow in the future since the brand is new.
There is some range in the price. The high end of the price might make it a little pricey for some people, especially considering the 2.8 ounce cans and low calories. Other cat lovers will appreciate the less expensive recipes.
Where Can You Buy Scrumptious From Scratch Cat Food?
We found Scrumptious from Scratch cat food on Chewy.com. It’s also available at independent pet supply stores.
We have been trying to wean our two cats “we inherited” off of Fancy Feast to something more nutritious but it’s difficult because they really like Fancy Feast Wild Salmon Florentine. They will eat Scrumptious Tuna with Ocean-fish but not their favorite. I might have to mix the two together to keep them happy.
Scrumptious from Scratch seems to have gone under – everything on Chewy is listed as Out of Stock, with no option to be notified when it comes back in, and my local pet food store has not had any of it shipped to them in many moons. Shame, because my cat was insane for the Simply Tuna…
