About Webbox Naturals
According to information on the Webbox web site, the company started in 1988 as Pets Choice. The idea at the time was to create a one-stop-shop for all things related to pets. In 1992, the company acquired a family business called EK Animal Feeds, owned by Billy Webb. (Webb provided the name for Webbox.)
Webbox Chub Rolls were one of the first new products distributed throughout grocery stores in the UK.
In 1993, Webbox launched Cat Stars treats in the UK. In 1996 the company launched Cat’s Delight, a pate-shaped cat food that featured 100 percent meat protein.
In 1998, Webbox introduced several products for dogs including a dry dog food. In 2003, Webbox introduced Tasty Sticks cat treats. They were named Best Cat Treat by Your Cat Magazine in 2007.
In 2012, the company launched micro-meals in natural trays in ASDA supermarkets which proved to be very popular. In 2013 Webbox introduced new products including Lick-e-Lix, Cats Delight Tasty Tid Bits, and the Walkies range of functional treats. Webbox also moved to a new warehousing location.
In 2014, the company had new owners, new offices, and more new treats (Hickory Sticks, Chicken Treats, and Meaty Sticks). In 2015, the company added dog toys and cat accessories to their products.
In 2016, Webbox introduced Webbox Naturals. Webbox Naturals is a complete range of foods and treats for dogs and cats that use 100 percent natural ingredients to promote optimum health and well-being.
In 2019, Webbox announced a rebrand. It launched its new identity with a “Joy in Every Moment” ethos and a fun, inventive new look.
Webbox was identified as the fastest-growing major pet brand in the UK in 2021. They are now the second largest cat treat brand in the UK.
Today Webbox is still made by Pets Choice, Ltd. The company has headquarters in Blackburn, Lancashire, UK.

Based on the information provided by Webbox, their parent company – Pets Choice – has their own manufacturing facilities in Lancashire, UK, close to their offices. They control everything about the manufacture and production of their brands.
According to other information we found online, Webbox also has a manufacturing partner in Germany which appears to make some of their pet foods.
Pets Choice makes food for both pets and for wild animals. They currently have 13 brands: Webbox, Tasty Bone, Meatiful Complete Dog Food, Feathers & Beaky, Spike’s Hedgehog Food, Wild Things, The Original Davies, Oceanic, Rufus, Vitakraft, Bob Martin, Felight, and aniMate.
Along with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, the company has a 140,000 square foot warehousing facility which means product quality is controlled from the beginning to the end of the product journey. Along with making foods for Webbox, the Pets Choice web site states that the company makes private label foods for other brands, including grocery store brands, independent pet foods, and specialty pet foods. Pets Choice also has facilities in Wales relating to the manufacturing and shipping of cat litter.
According to Pets Choice, all of their products, across all brands, are made in the UK with raw ingredients sourced as locally as possible. They try to reduce unnecessary transport emissions.
Pets Choice says that minimizing their environmental impact is important to the company. They monitor the environmental impact of their production and transportation and try to reduce emissions in line with government standards.

As mentioned earlier, Webbox Naturals is a line of products made by Webbox. It uses 100 percent natural ingredients that are locally-sourced.
Webbox Naturals Tuna Mousse Wet Cat Food is listed as the brand’s most popular food. It contains no artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors. It is also grain, wheat, and gluten-free. It is sold in packages of 12-85 gram tins. It is a complete nutritionally balanced mousse for cats with tuna flavor and fish broth.
The unfortunate thing about British pet foods is that they don’t require companies to be very specific about the ingredients used in foods. The ingredients used in this food are: meat and animal derivatives, fish and fish derivatives (tuna 5%), derivatives of vegetable origin, and minerals. That means we know that at least 5 percent of this food is tuna but we can’t be sure of much else.
Technically, “meat and animal derivatives” is defined as “All the fleshy parts of slaughtered warm-blooded land animals, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment, and all products and derivatives of the processing of the carcass or parts of the carcass of warm-blooded land animals.”

There is no reason why cats can’t eat and enjoy meat and meat derivatives (and fish and fish derivatives). In fact, these can be very healthy and nutritious ingredients in cat food. It would just be nice if they were specified. The same is true of “derivatives of vegetable origin” so we would know exactly what they were.
With the lack of information provided about the ingredients in the food, it’s virtually impossible to determine anything about their quality.

Webbox makes four different Webbox Naturals dry foods for cats. Two of the foods are grain-inclusive and two are wheat gluten-free.
Webbox Naturals Chicken & Salmon Dry Cat Food is the most popular dry food for the Webbox Naturals brand. It’s said to be approved by veterinarians across the UK and made with 100 percent natural ingredients. It uses fresh chicken as an ingredient. And, it’s wheat gluten-free to be gentle for your cat’s digestion. It’s sold in 400-gram bags, four bags in a purchase. This is a complete food for adult cats.
The first ingredients in this food are chicken (20 percent), maize, rice, poultry meal (17 percent), corn gluten, and chicken fat. The food does contain salmon meal (4 percent) after the chicken fat.
The food does contain something called “Teasts” which we couldn’t identify. It could be a misspelling of yeasts or it could be something that’s not on the Internet. We couldn’t find it.
The chicken is a good source of protein for cats. This is fresh chicken which means that it likely contains a lot of moisture. When it is cooked down and the moisture is removed, this chicken would appear lower in the list. However, the poultry meal, which makes up 17 percent of the food, does provide a lot of protein. It’s moisture has already been removed. Some people do not like poultry meal as much because it can be made up of various kinds of poultry, but it is still a good source of protein.
The food also contains maize, rice, and corn gluten. These foods do not contain the same kind of sticky gluten as wheat gluten. The word “gluten” is only used with these foods in a casual sense. Maize/corn and rice are naturally gluten-free. That means if your cat has problems with wheat gluten, maize/corn and rice should not cause the same issues. However, maize and corn will increase the protein percentage in pet foods. If these ingredients are used to excess in pet foods – to replace animal protein – they can indicate a lower quality food. However, used in smaller amounts, they are good sources of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that animals need, including cats.
The food also contains FOS and MOS prebiotics which are beneficial for your cat’s digestion.
Overall, we think that Webbox Naturals Chicken & Salmon Dry Cat Food looks like a very good cat food. We like the chicken and salmon meal and understand the use of the poultry meal. The prebiotics are also good to see.

It’s sometimes difficult to find food that’s specially made for kittens. Growing kittens can eat all life stage food but sometimes it’s good to have food that is balanced just for your kitten. We were happy to see that Webbox Naturals offers a variety pack for kittens from 1-12 months.
Webbox Naturals Kitten Selection Jelly Wet Cat Food has grain free foods featuring meat and fish. There are five boxes, each containing 12 x 100 gram pouches. The food is made with 100 percent natural ingredients. Vitamins and minerals are added. It has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
According to Webbox Naturals, the food is made in pinkish balls in clear jelly. It has meaty (or fishy) flavor and odor. These are complete foods for kittens/cats up to one year of age. The pouches include Beef & Chicken in Jelly, Chicken & Duck in Jelly, and Salmon in Jelly. There are four pouches of each flavor.
Beef and chicken has 50 percent beef and 4 percent chicken. Chicken and duck has 50 percent chicken and 4 percent duck. The salmon has 45 percent meat and animal derivatives and 4 percent salmon. All of the foods include meat and animal derivatives.

Seven Out Of Seven Cats Can;’t Be Wrong.
Our cats are fussy eaters. All seven of them. They turn their little noses up at quite a few of the different brands of cat food that we have tried on them. With this brand, however, they went all quiet and just kept their heads down in their bowls. I guess I know which brand we will be going for, seeing as they devoured it with such enthusiasm. I can’t give a personal opinion on this, as I obviously don’t eat cat food, but our cats genuinely loved it. I Bought Senior Age 7 Plus Pouches…
I bought senior age 7 plus pouches which were not sealed properly and several were off and had to be binned. I wrote to webbox twice and never got a reply. My cat is 18 and has allergies however since eating webbox they have all cleared up and he has never looked so healthy. Delighted The Cat Perhaps
As much as this cat food may be the ultimate in health food, I don’t make a decision solely based upon its nutritional value. The cat did eat it, although never with complete relish, so unlike other brands it did not get wasted. Cats can be fickle about food and the Webbox food was clearly tasty enough. The main consideration for me is the smell of the food, how pungent it is. This particular variety was definitely producing an odour that was noticeable, until eaten of course. Not strong enough to escape the kitchen and permeate the house, but enough to add an edge. Whether I have a super olfactory sense or it does honk? – you’ll have to decide. Overall, Is Webbox Naturals Cat Food A Good Choice?
We thought some Webbox Naturals foods were better than others. It appeared that the dry foods have better quality ingredients though this might be due to the fact that these foods name their ingredients while the wet foods use vague terms like “meat and meat derivatives.”
Webbox Naturals looks like it is similar to Iams and Friskies, though it does use locally-sourced ingredients. Without more information about the ingredients, it’s hard to confirm anything about them.
