Nick considered it a win when his family of “dog people” caved and decided to get a cat they named Noelle. Little did he know that Noelle would eventually go viral for mastering a beloved card game and transforming his life in more ways than one.
A diva queen in the making
When a cute Siamese kitten walked over and plopped down onto his sister’s lap at a local animal shelter, Nick knew the deal was sealed. “My sister was like, this one!” he said. “[Noelle] chose us. It’s the cat distribution system.”
When she first joined the family, Noelle wasn’t the internet superstar she is today, though. The Siamese kitten was skittish and shy.
“As she grew up and matured, she’s turned into this diva queen,” he explains. “I think she knows her worth and the power that she holds.”
That power certainly came to fruition after one ordinary game night.
Cards Against Humanity: Cat Edition
After having some friends over, Nick saw Noelle batting around cards left out from Cards Against Humanity, which tasks players to answer questions and complete fill-in-the-blank statements using funny, often politically incorrect replies.
Amused by Noelle’s apparent love of the game, Nick shared a Snapchat video with friends featuring his cat “playing,” and the response from loved ones was immediate and clear: this was hilarious. So Nick made a public account and posted it there as well.
The video hit one million views. Nick knew he had struck gold.
Now, Noelle’s garnered massive numbers of followers on her Bap.kat Instagram account. She’s also popular on Facebook and TikTok.
In the videos, Nick reads the prompt, and then, using a paw, Noelle selects one of the cards in front of her. Nick flips it over to see her response.
In one video, Nick asks, “What is the most problematic?” Noelle’s answer? “You.” In another video, Nick asks, “If at first you don’t succeed, try…blank.” Noelle responded with, “Eating people.”
“Some of the stuff she has said certainly puts us in a lot of hot water—she does have a lawyer,” Nick quipped with a smile, “but of course, it’s all in good fun.”
All jokes aside
For Nick, his cat’s internet stardom is fun, but Noelle’s taught him life lessons far beyond a few silly videos.
“She’s made me a completely different person,” he said of Noelle. “I’m very, very thankful that she walked into my life. I think she’s given me a very healthy perspective on the world, honestly.”
